What’s new in Zetafax 2011?

Fax Relay allows paper documents sent via a fax machine or multi-function device to be directed through the Zetafax fax server. This improves compliance management, by ensuring that all documents are securely archived and logged in Zetafax regardless of the method used to send, and without needing to separately scan the document.

Fax Relay allows existing hardware to be used where required with all the benefits of a fax server, and can also reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) by eliminating the need for dedicated telephone lines. Read more about Fax Relay

The Zetafax Client and Zetafax Viewer programs have been updated with the addition of a Windows 7 style ribbon bar. Making Zetafax more intuitive, the most common functions are available on a single ribbon tab, and can typically be accessed via a single mouse click.

The design of the ribbon interface also enables actions to be identified with larger icons than the previous menu interface, making it easier for users to select the function they wish to use.

The Zetafax Client has been enhanced to make it easier to use with other applications for processing received faxes.

The Zetafax Client can now be extended by adding up to 9 custom actions, designed for users who need to perform additional processing on a received fax, such as passing to an electronic records management system for processing or storage. These custom actions are specified for each computer, allowing actions to be tailored for individual roles.

The Zetafax Viewer also supports page rotation in the fax image file, with simple options to rotate pages 90 degrees in either direction, or to flip the page. These can be applied to individual pages, or to all pages in a fax, and any rotations can be saved on closing the file.

The Zetafax Server reporting feature has now been extended to include reports for received faxes, including details of connection time, numbers of pages, plus sender and recipient details where appropriate. The following reports are available:

• Summary - summary information about faxes received over a given period.
• Standard - detailed information about received faxes over a set period.
• Average user per hour - graphical summary of the average number of faxes received each hour over a set period.
• Average usage per weekday - graphical summary of the number of faxes received each weekday for a set period.
• Device - graphical representation of the number of faxes received by each device.
• Detailed - all stored information about each fax received within a set period, which can be exported for analysis or internal billing.

The Zetafax Server can be configured to print a fax report automatically when faxes are sent and/or received. Aside from a system default setting, this can be configured independently for each user.

With Zetafax 2011, this has been enhanced to allow the fax message to be printed with a status line that gives the recipient and transmission details, plus the page number and total page count. This reduces paper usage by removing the need for a separate status page, and also helps in collating printed faxes by making it easy to ensure each printed fax is collated correctly.

In addition, the printed status page now includes the first page of the fax, to assist with identifying the sent fax when the system is configured to print just the status page. Again, this also helps reduce paper usage as the complete fax message does not need to be printed to allow such identification.

With Zetafax 2011, you can now search for faxes received from a specific sender ID (CSID), as well as searching for alias names by using the Name of Sender feature which allows an individual or the system administrator to specify a descriptive name corresponding to a given CSID. Faxes received after upgrading to the new version will therefore be matched against the CLI, CSID or the Name of Sender alias.

Zetafax 2011 adds support for Microsoft Small Business Server 2011 (Standard Edition). All server components are supported, including the Zetafax Server Email Gateway, SMTP Server, Web Client and Exchange Connector.
